Mexico City, Mexico (November 22, 2023) – Mexico pulled off a stunning comeback to defeat Honduras 2-2 (4-2 on penalties) in the second leg of the Leagues Cup quarterfinals on Wednesday night at Estadio Azteca.

Mexico trailed 2-0 on aggregate after losing the first leg in Tegucigalpa, but they fought back to level the series on aggregate in the 90th minute. Edson Álvarez scored the equalizer to send the match to extra time.

Neither team could score in extra time, so the match went to penalties. Mexico converted all four of their penalties, while Honduras missed two, including one from Bryan Róchez.
