Vizianagaram, Andhra Pradesh: Survivors of the Andhra train collision have shared harrowing accounts of the tragedy. One survivor, who was traveling in the Palasa passenger train, recalled the moment of impact as “terrifying.”
“The train suddenly stopped, and there was a loud bang,” he said. “I saw people flying through the air, and the train started to derail. I was trapped under a seat for several minutes before I was rescued.”
Another survivor, who was traveling in the Rayagada passenger train, said that he was thrown from his seat by the impact.
“I landed on the floor and saw that the train was derailed,” he said. “There was smoke and dust everywhere, and people were screaming. I managed to crawl out of the train and help some of the injured passengers.”
The survivors have praised the efforts of the rescuers, who arrived at the scene quickly and worked tirelessly to save lives.
